Heat the oven to 400º F.
Place a large ovenproof skillet over medium heat and add 1 Tbsp of the oil.
Season the chicken well with sea salt and pepper, place skin-side down in the skillet, and leave undisturbed until the skin is browned and crisp, 8â10 minutes.
In the meantime, combine the remaining 1 Tbsp oil, the tomatoes, garlic, and balsamic in a medium bowl. Season with salt and pepper and toss to combine.
Flip the chicken so it is skin-side up in the skillet. Pour the tomato mixture evenly over top. Lay the rosemary on top.
Transfer to the oven and bake until the chicken is cooked through, the tomatoes are cooked and juicy, and the garlic is softened, 35â45 minutes.
